The newest member of the mat riding fraternity is Brian Paupaw. He ordered a mat from us this morning, and should be in the water by this upcoming weekend. A surfer for 6 years, Brian is friends with Justin Valdes...who hosted last weekend's NY Mat Meet. Both Justin and Brian are Brooklyn artists...and now, both are mat surfers.
Brian's life path has been an unusual one, and he has documented much of it. He directed and produced "Hoods to Woods," a short film chronicling his journey from the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant to the deep powder back country of North and South America.
